A Holy Timeout: How to Unplug and Recharge

I know it’s time to unplug and recharge when everything starts to feel louder. My notifications, to-do list, and even my own thoughts become overwhelming. That’s my signal: That’s my signal: I need a break before burnout shows up. 😮‍💨

When that feeling hits, I give myself permission to slow down. I silence the noise by:

Turning off social media notifications 📵 Lighting a candle and journaling 🕯📝 Taking a walk with no phone — just me and nature 🌿 Playing soft music and focusing on deep breathing 🎶

Unplugging isn’t about escaping — it’s about realigning. Every time I make space to pause, I come back more grounded, more focused, and more grateful. 💛

🛋️ Simple Ways to Create Your Own Unplug Ritual

Here’s how I personally unplug and recharge when life feels overwhelming.

You don’t need a luxury spa or a plane ticket to find peace. Here are a few cozy, affordable ways I recharge that you can try right at home:

1. Create a “Zen Zone” in your home.

Set aside a space with a comfy chair, soft lighting, and soothing sounds. Add a journal, a cozy blanket, or even an essential oil diffuser.

2. Practice digital boundaries.

Set a timer for 30 minutes of no screens. Put your phone on “Do Not Disturb,” and just be. Let your brain breathe.

3. Sip something warm and grounding.

Herbal teas like chamomile or ashwagandha blends help calm the nervous system. Sip slow and breathe deep.

4. Add a sensory reset.

Try a calming candle scent like lavender or eucalyptus. Use a weighted eye mask. Take a magnesium bath soak before bed.

Everyone needs a break sometimes — learning how to unplug and recharge is part of my self-care routine. How do you know when it’s time to unplug? And what’s your favorite way to recharge? Drop it in the comments.
